ACFW (American Christian Fiction Writers) is a professional organization devoted to the craft of Christian Fiction. They offer writing courses, critique groups, and encouragement for new and published authors. They also host a national conference and run several contests for members throughout the year.
ACFW NY/NJ Chapter:
As chapter president, my heart is to establish a local community of writers who meet together and offer one another support and inspiration to cultivate our craft and move us forward on this journey of writing. (See below for more details on our local chapter)
ACFW NY/NJ Monthly Chapter Meeting
The first Saturday of each month (October-May) from 10am-12pm at Grace Bible Chapel, 100 Oakdale Road, Chester, NJ. Topics address issues in character development, plot structure, emotional depth in writing, marketing, indie and traditional publishing, etc. For more information, please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org. First couple meetings are open to anyone, then membership to the national organization is required ($65/first year; $45/for members).
Weekly Critique Group
On all other Saturdays throughout the year (even summer!) a smaller group of us meet to critique our WIP (work in progress) (9:30am-12pm). If we have it, we bring a chapter, or up to 10 pages, with enough copies for each participant (usually 4-6) to critique. Everyone is welcome no matter where you are in your writing. Some come just to listen and add encouragement. Others to work on a fiction novel. Some even with blogs or sermons to get feedback. It is an exceptionally valuable time that you won't want to miss!
